The HYSTRAM project is coming to an end — and it’s time to share some insights!

January 26, 2026

The HySTrAm project has successfully reached its conclusion, marking a significant step forward in the development of innovative hydrogen technologies. The project has addressed the entire value chain — from advanced catalyst development and novel adsorbent materials to the implementation of integrated hydrogen storage solutions.

HySTrAm delivered strong results in the design and optimisation of high-performance catalysts, supporting efficient hydrogen-related processes. In parallel, the project developed and validated innovative adsorbent materials designed to enable safe, efficient and scalable hydrogen storage.

A key milestone of the project was the design, construction and operation of a full demonstrator at ANWIL’s industrial facilities. This demonstrator validated HySTrAm’s technologies under real industrial conditions, bridging the gap between laboratory research and practical deployment. The successful operation of the demonstrator confirms the technical feasibility and industrial relevance of the proposed hydrogen storage solutions.

By integrating advanced materials with system-level validation in an industrial environment, HYSTRAM contributes to improving efficiency, safety and sustainability across the hydrogen value chain, supporting hydrogen’s role as a cornerstone of the clean energy transition.
